Transforming Pain into Passion, Power and Purpose
Whakamana Wāhine was a project that was born in July 2020, while we were all still living fresh in the aftermath of Covid. When it was created I described it as a wellness based kaupapa, with a Te Ao Māori framework, focussed on Self Love and Women Empowerment.
It started as a Facebook page dedicated to sharing my personal healing journey - from leaving a domestic violence relationship, to moving from Aotearoa to the Gold Coast with my two tamariki, and raising them as a single Māmā for the past 10 years.
I had begun to dive deep into personal development of all different modes and meanings on a mission to find my true self. I studied Human Design, NLP & Hypnotherapy, Maramataka Māori and mirimiri, soaking in all the knowledge I could. The Whakamana Wāhine facebook platform gave me a space to share my reflections and lessons in the hope that it would inspire and help other women on their own healing journeys.
In January 2021, I created and launched my first online course container “ The Self Healing Journey” . This used Te Whare Tapa Whā as a lens through which to unpack a deeper understanding of ourselves in a safe space of like-minded women.
I went on to run this course and many others, such as “The Self Love Shift”, “Awaken Your Inner Goddess” and Finding Freedom”, with positive, uplifting and life-changing results for the wahine who joined and trusted in me .
Through all my pursuits and presence I had a lot of opportunities come my way that expanded my mahi into the community. I was offered a weekly segment on Te Karanga o te Kowhai - Brisbane’s Māori radio station and invited to attend speaking engagements at Wahine in Business events.
I had also created a business networking group “Mana Wāhine in Business” with a focus on empowering women to find their purpose and passions and make a business from it, as this was the space that I was currently in. This group is still active today.
Where am I now ?
In December 2022, my focus shifted to starting up Kura Kāinga Care and since then I haven’t been actively working under the Whakamana Wāhine banner.
I have recently started to revisit the content I created and realised that there is still so much value in the messages and matauranga that I had shared - a reminder to walk my own talk , an inspiration to myself to get back on the waka!
I have spent time sorting through all my old course content and creations and have uploaded them below, available for anyone who wishes to access them.
My life has shifted a lot in the past year as I have met the love of my life and we are expecting a pēpi in October 2025. After being a single, independent wāhine for so long, this has bought with it many new life lessons, reflections and personal growth. I’m feeling called back into a space of service to the community, to share my new journey of motherhood and raising a blended family and all the trials and learnings that come with that.
It’s likely I’ll close down the Whakamana Wāhine page soon to focus more on the whanau kaupapa, but for now you can visit and follow the Facebook page, or check out the course content below.
