As Māori, we understand how hard it is to leave our precious taonga with anybody else other than our whanau .

We also understand that for Māori living here in Australia, we may not have the whanau networks to rely on to care for our tamariki when that awhi is needed.

Our Whaea are not just babysitters!

Our Whaea provide a home-based education and cultural childcare options for whanau in the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

Our Whaea have their Blue Card , First Aid and CPR certifications as well as their own wealth of knowledge, experience and child caring qualifications.

Our Whaea bring their kete full of cultural resources to engage and teach your tamariki . They are trained and committed to actively engaging your tamariki in learning about Te Ao Māori through waiata, te reo and through interactions with our custom - made resources boxes.

One of our core values is Whanau - our Whaea genuinely care about your tamariki and really become like a part of the whanau !

Events

Our Whaea are also available for events, wananga and functions. We take care of the tamariki so you can sit down and enjoy your function or family event .

“AMAZING!! we had the pleasure of Whaea Dawn & Whaea Amber attend our whanau wananga day. They took all our tamariki ages 2-13 while the adults did learning..the kids went for nature walks around the venue we were at, they did so many fun activities and even learnt a poi song which they performed for us all at the end of our wananga..the kids took to them so easily and we all loved having that peace of mind they were in good hands..we will be continuing to have them attend many more whanau days and highly recommend to anybody who needs there services..Ngā mihi kurakainga care youse are amazing!!!” - Tareea Tuuta

  • Kura Kāinga Care currently services the Gold Coast and Brisbane only. We are working hard to recruit more Whaea to our team !

  • $35 per hour - 1 child

    $37 per hour - 2 children

    $39 per hour - 3 children

    $ 41per hour - 4 children

    $43 per hour - 5 children

    (Negotiations will be made for whanau with children with high needs requiring specialised care plans to reflect the extra time and energy given ).

  • Each casual care session you book with Kura Kāinga Care incurs a $19.95 booking fee to be paid to secure your session.

    All booking fees are non-refundable.

  • When you Hire a Whaea you pay the booking fee directly to Kura Kāinga Care in order to book your care session.

    You then make payment of the babysitting fees directly to your Whaea immediately on completion of the care session.

  • As we are classified as a “babysitting service “ you will not be able to access Child Care Subsidy for our services.

    We are in the process of becoming an approved provider for In Home Care arrangements and for a number of Family Day Cares for which you will be able to access CCS.

  • Those of our Whaea who have their yellow card can also fill the role of a Support Worker .

    As a business we have the goal of becoming an NDIS provider in the future.
